JK Rowling’s seven ‘Harry Potter’ books have been given a makeover with all-new covers for the Children’s Editions by award-winning UK artist Jonny Duddle.

The new artwork depicts a much-more cartoony Harry than we’ve previously been used to, but we’ve got to admit we’re fans of this new look.

The original covers for the fantasy novel series had a more traditional illustration style, with artists Thomas Taylor, Cliff Wright, Giles Greenfield, and Jason Cockcroft all contributing art for the first releases.

Duddle has given Harry a much more pronounced mop-top for the new covers, which is more in line with Rowling’s vision of the Boy Who Lived.

The artist admits he wasn’t a hardcore Potter fan before landing the gig, having only read the first book, but he thinks that allowed him to offer a fresh look at the books.

"I saw the first [‘Harry Potter’ film] at the cinema, after I read the book, but that’s it. In some ways that probably makes me unusual, and I think it’s a good place from which to approach the world of Hogwarts and Harry Potter, without any preconceptions. I’m reading each book in turn and immediately developing the cover, taking the images that are conjured up in my head by J.K. Rowling’s magical words.”
