THE MAKING OF THE FAST & THE FURIOUS PROVES IT WAS ALL ABOUT STREET RACING

When The Fast & The Furious hit the movie theaters in 2001, it was a breakout hit amongst the masses, despite the terrible ratings it received from reviewers. After having watched the movie for a good dozen times, I wholeheartedly agree with what the critics had to say: It's one of the most terrible movies that you can have a ton of fun watching.
However, we never realized when we watched the very first Fast & Furious movie, more than sixteen years ago, that the team of underground street racers was destined to rapidly morph into a team of world saving superheroes. Each and every iteration of the Fast & Furious movies had me repeatedly going back to watch the very first one. Because I needed something to cleanse myself of the action flick train wreck that I just witnessed, and to give myself false hopes that the next one will be more about cars and less about reclaiming nukes.
To prove how the very first Fast & Furious was truly special, I stumbled upon a behind the scenes film: The making of The Fast & The Furious. The movie was initially called "Redline", and everything surrounding it, the actors, the production, and the special effects, just oozed of street racing. If you can withstand the blurry-vision and the dated nature of the presentation, you'll find that this walk down memory lane is a pretty damn good one.
