Rapper Sean Kingston is broke! According to some court documents, the multi-platinum rapper has no money to speak of.

Sean Kingston was discovered on MySpace in 2007 and was almost immediately signed to Sony and has been consistently putting out hits ever since. From the outside, it would appear that Kingston was set for life.

The famous rapper has run into loads of legal trouble over the years, usually as a result of his not following through on some kind of payment; whether it’s stolen rolexes or legal fees, Kingston has a bit of a history. His most intense legal trouble, though, began in 2010.

Following a Justin Bieber concert in Seattle, a 19-year-old fan accused Kingston, one of his body guards, and a member of his band of taking her back to their hotel room and “gang raping her.” The case would have went to court, but Kingston ended up settling.

The amount of the settlement paid to, now 22-year-old Carissa Capeloto, in 2013 is unknown. Kingston put out a statement that he settled, not as an admission of guilt, but because he had a tour coming up and didn’t have the time or resources to focus on a big trial.

His lawyers obviously worked hard to kept Kingston out of court. Good lawyers, reasonable settlements, and avoided prison sentences cost money. What landed Kingston in the spot he’s in, is that he never paid them.

When lawyers sue you, you’re in trouble. In 2015, his lawyers claimed that Kingston owed them $12,500 in legal fees, which he refused to pay. All parties reached a deal in 2016, with Kingston agreeing to pay $20,000 in installments between April of 2017 and January the following year.

The agreement stipulated that if Kingston missed even one payment, the entire $14,500 would be due in full. Kingston fell in breach on contract, and now both parties are at a stalemate, because Sean Kingston is flat broke.

The judge ordered Kingston to make payments on the lump sum, with interest, until it is paid off. They also ordered that Kingston fill out a financial sheet, listing his property and assets; with the firm looking for anything to aid them in collecting their debt.

Still, Kingston refused to comply. He never made the payments or filled out the paperwork. Sean Kingston was found in contempt of court and ordered to fill out his formed immediately.

Sean Kingston listed that he owns no property, no vehicles, and that he is currently living with his mother Janice Turner in Los Angeles. He left the space under “rate of pay” blank, but listed his occupation as “entertainer.”
The famous rapper was also ordered to release his bank account statements, which reveal just how dire Kingston’s situation is. In February/March, one of Kingston’s bank account started the month out with $18.96, but ended with $6.96. His other two bank accounts didn’t look much better. They began the month with $370.68 and $207.63, respectively, but ended with (negative) $19.65 and $7.22. Sean Kingston is one of us!

In fact, he only made one deposit, that was in the amount of $2000 from a Marleen Turner, but his overdraft fees ate most of it. It’s hard to know how to manage money when you have never had it. Kingston’s going to have to put out some new music, he’s got bills to pay.
