 Whether you know Dwayne Johnson as ‘The Rock’ one of the most popular professional wrestlers in history or for his many film roles in movies like ‘San Andreas’ and the ‘Fast and the Furious’ franchise, you probably know he has one of the best physiques in the business.
So of course when Mark Webster decided he wanted to undergo a body transformation, who better than the People’s Champion to model his fitness regimen? The self-employed average joe replicated Johnson’s diet and training plan and you will not believe the results.
Webster decided to challenge himself for 30 days as way to get out of his fitness rut. He began by replicating Johnson’s diet plan which works out to 5,000 calories a day across seven meals. However, as he found out, eating like the champ is as tiring as it is expensive.
Webster spent $1,262 on a month’s worth of food which is about $42 a day. He said that preparing the meals was a challenge, requiring an hour and a half of meal prep every two or three days. He also says interrupting his day to eat seven times a day took some getting used to.
Next, he focused on training like The Rock, completing an hour of cardio exercise and 90 minutes of weight training, six days a week. While he only lost a pound, he says that he gained a considerable amount of muscle mass.
Webster says that the experiment changed his life. His resting heart rate dropped four beats per minute and he’s never felt better. ‘I’m 37, I got little aches and pains all the time but I have none of those anymore.’
Webster says that he has a newfound respect for Johnson’s discipline. ‘The fact that he trains like this while being on set 14 hours? That kind of discipline to me is absolutely amazing.’ The story ended up reaching Johnson who tweeted his support.
