Many moviegoers feel like Fast & Furious may have reached the finish line. Yet, they still keep watching. Furious 7 was one of the highest grossing films of not only 2015 but all time.
Nevertheless, the franchise is moving forward to its eighth installation, which is planned for 2017. While rumors of a New York City plot have swirled and word of plans to film in Cuba recently came out, the actual story of the new addition is still tightly under wraps.
That didn't stop the film's director from speaking a bit about what we can expect and how it will remain fresh after seven installments.
“I’m probably not at liberty to go too far into detail," F. Gary Gray tells Collider. "All I have to say is I’m extremely excited about the direction we’re going in, and we’re really pushing to make sure the audience feels like it’s not more of the same. They feel like it’s fresh, they feel like the characters they’ve come to know and love are there, but this is gonna be different, and that’s probably the most I can give you right now.”
