Spoilers ahead for this Justice League #44 by Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok, on sale this week.
The war between Darkseid and the Anti-Monitor was in full swing in this week's issue of Justice League from DC Comics. The pair of ancient, godlike beings battled while the Justice League tried to get the situation under control, and Batman and Green Lantern set out to earn the origins of the Anti-Monitor in the hope that it would provide useful information.
During the course of the story, though, that information informs the action and just as Darkseid thinks he has the Anti-Monitor all figured out, The Anti-Monitor reverses the momentum and fires the Black Racer (seen above, merging with The Flash) through Darkseid like a projectile, apparently killing the New God.
While it seems likely Darkseid will be up and walking again within the first five pages or so of #45, for now this issue's official title is "The Death of Darkseid."
This wouldn't be the first time Darkseid died, of course, although almost none of them have had much long-term narrative impact. Among others, he seemed to die in Countdown to Final Crisis, again in Final Crisis and briefly died before being resuscitated by a Mother Box in Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey.
