Warner Bros. has released the Suicide Squad trailer first shown at Comic-Con International: San Diego, and the reaction from fans has been strong.
Let’s take a moment to take a closer look at the new trailer, and see what new information is actually hidden away in its sceens.
Here are five things we learned from the new Suicide Squad trailer.

Superman seems to have ushered in an age of meta-humans.
During the opening dinner scene, Amanda Waller and the gentleman she is dining with discuss the fact that some of the Squad have powers. Waller mentions that she’s seen a lot of this kind of thing, and how it seems like Superman may have been some kind of “beacon.” Intentionally or not, Superman has brought superpowers to the DC Universe at large.

Deadshot has a daughter.
Obviously we can’t be totally sure of their relationship, but a few shots from the trailer seem to suggest that Deadshot has a young girl that he cares for. Daughter seems the most likely guess.

Batman is known in pop culture
It’s a little unclear how well known Batman is known to the public in the DC movie universe. Is he a known figure or an urban legend? We’re guessing more of an urban legend, but he’s apparently well-known enough for branded merchandise like this thug’s mask to exist.

Joker was caught
The opening scene has Waller proclaiming that she’s finally caught the worst of the worst. We’re presuming that’s the Joker, because who else could it be? Her comment about throwing him a hole and then throwing away the hole seem to suggest that they thought he was done for good. We’re thinking they were wrong.

Time jumps.
A few scenes in the trailer seem to take place in different time periods. We see Harley Quinn in the present day, but we also see scenes of her dressed a doctor as the Joker tortures her, and another of her in the Joker’s car. The fact that these scenes all seem to be involve Quinn suggests that we’ll be getting something of an origin story for her.
