His mantlepiece is groaning – probably – under the weight of accolades beginning 'Most Handsome' and 'Best-Dressed', yet Johnny Depp really isn't looking his best of late.
On the set of crime biopic 'Black Mass', the 50-year-old actor appears to be channeling a distinctly Jack Nicholson-esque vibe as he greeted fans.
It's a wonder they recognised him at all, with his receding hair and manky brown teeth, but they showered him with adoration nonetheless as he drove off in his limo.
But his likeness to Nicholson is all rather apt, as it turns out.
In 'Black Mass', he's playing the notorious Boston mobster James 'Whitey' Bulger, who was handed two life sentences and five years in jail last November for a wealth of crimes, including his part in 11 murders, extortion, drug trafficking and racketeering spanning the 70s to the 90s.
And it was Bulger who was the inspiration for Nicholson's character, the unhinged Frank Costello in Martin Scorsese's 'The Departed'.
'Black Mass' also stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Whitey's law-abiding politician brother Bill (having taken over the role from Guy Pearce), Joel Edgerton as a corrupt FBI agent, and Dakota Johnson as Whitey's girlfriend Lindsey.
