The concept is a hybrid potentially making 1,300 horsepower. We'd say it's a worthy 918 replacement.
Porsche is busy working on a successor to the 918 Spyder (we think). If its designers and engineers are short on inspiration they should check out the Porsche GT Vision 906/917 concept from Alex Imnadze. It takes inspiration from two iconic endurance racers. The 906 influence is evident throughout the GT Vision, most notably the bubbly cockpit and the elongated spoiler, although the concept’s is much longer. The 917 doesn’t seem to lend too much visually to Imnadze’s design, but the two cars do have something in common: power
When we spoke with the young designer he didn’t exactly have all the powertrain details nailed down. He envisions the Porsche GT Vision 906/917 as a hybrid with between 1,100 and 1,300 horsepower. The car itself would be designed to compete with the new wave of hypercars spearheaded by Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin. Those two companies are both turning back the clock to build cars that blur the line between F1 racers and hypercars. Imnadze imagines his concept as a more powerful Lotus or Caterham, as in a car that is track capable and can make grocery runs. We’re all about that idea. Many of today’s supercars and tomorrow’s hypercars are awesome in short spurts out on the track but can’t go all day.
If this concept ever were to see life it had better be road-legal, if only for the fact that it looks so damn good. That ultra-aerodynamic design likely wouldn’t see production but the overall dimensions don’t look far off from say the new Ford GT, although this concept is notably wider.
