Last year, we told you all about Car Mechanic Simulator 2014. Even though we fell in love with the game then, there are definitely some notable improvements now. We spoke with the owner and CEO of Red Dot Games, Dariusz Ruman, to find out what we can expect to see from this latest edition.
Dariusz told us that the most influential part of creating the 2015 game was the input from the players. He said:
“In the game’s Steam community ‘Improvement Thread’ created by the developers, the team gathered input from hundreds of gamers. So first of all - now we have auctions - people complain that they are making money in game, and have no chance to spend it. So we added the ability to collect cars. You can buy old junk cars, restore them, paint and place them in your garage to watch all day. Or sell it, make profit and buy expensive ones. You can also now spend money on garage tools, components, customization of walls, floors etc.”
Garage Upgrades
The cars in the CMS2015 are more complex too. Remove and replace the wings, bonnet, boot, doors, seats and more. The cars can be disassembled from the frame, and if certain goals are met, the team will provide even more options for tuning.
If you played the CMS2014 game, you will remember that the missions are the same for everyone, and that they are always in a certain order. In the new version, the repair requests from customers are randomly generated, and the payment you receive from completion varies based on the level of difficulty of the job. Some jobs will take more time than others, and with many customers waiting for your service, you will have to manage your time appropriately to make your business succeed.
The base game for 2015 begins with 16 cars, and more are coming through DLC packs. Possible future DLC car packs include supercars, JDM, classics and hot rods. Dariusz added,
“Also we want to add support for mods - users can add cars - but this will heavily depend on how the gamers will support us via buying the game. I hope they will so that we can add this great feature!”
Though the game is already at over 75 per cent completion, you can still get in on the Early Access program through the team’s Kickstarter campaign. Game keys will be sent out to supporters this summer. If CMS2015 reaches its goals, all future DLC packs will be free, as they were in CMS2014. If you just can’t wait that long to play, check out last year’s game on Steam, which is currently on sale with 50 per cent off.
