WHEELIE GOOD STUFF TOP 15 BEAUTIFUL AMERICAN CARS OF ALL TIME

If I'm brutally honest, the first word that jumps to my head, when I think of American cars, isn't 'beautiful.'
This isn't to say they aren't good cars or even cool looking cars such as the Dodge Viper, but would you call it beautiful?
What America does better than anyone else is presence. All the cars on this list have presence but also nailed it on the beauty front.
Here are my top 15 American Beauties:

15) OLDSMOBILE FUTURAMIC 98 CONVERTIBLE

A wonderful oxymoron.

14) BUICK RIVIERA

Add white rimmed tyres to anything and it is instantly cooler. However, you can go the opposite direction and get the numberplate "KOOL69" as seen below.

13) PONTIAC GTO

I fell in love with this car from the Vin Diesel film "XXX." I had to convince my family, when they saw the DVD case, that it wasn't porn.

12) CADILLAC COUPE DE VILLE

This might be a controversial choice as I know quite a few people in the office called it ostentatious, but I think it is quite beautiful. The covered rear wheel, the twin headlights and rear fins all project confidence... or that you're a pimp.

11) LINCOLN CONTINENTAL

Simple, straight-lined design. Beautiful.

10) FORD GRAN TORINO

Before watching the film "Gran Torino" my first thought when hearing 'Torino' was the Starsky & Hutch car. However, since that epic Clint Eastwood film, I will only ever think of this stunning Ford Gran Torino in British Racing Green.

9) PACKARD CLIPPER DARRIN

Despite me wanting to import this stunning vehicle to the streets of London, I don't think it would be the best idea. No matter how beautiful it is, I don't think I'd achieve the desired effect of looking like an absolute boss.

8) DUESENBERG MODEL J DUAL COWL PHAETON

Why don't cars look like this anymore? All spare wheels should be mounted on the side.

7) AUBURN 851 BOATTAIL SPEEDSTER

*Heavy Breathing*

6) FORD GT

The first modern car on the list, but a more than justified place.

I've included the first Ford GT at number 6 too before you kick off.

5) FORD MUSTANG MK1

Maybe the most iconic car America has ever made.

4) CHEVROLET CORVETTE C1

I've had to split the Chevrolet Corvettes that deserve to be on this list into three groups.
The C1 in both forms pictures are two of the coolest cars ever made in any country.

3) CHEVROLET CORVETTE C3

Just pipping the C1 is the C3. With a more curvy aesthetic and gorgeous pop-up headlights, the C3 is only second to one other Corvette...

2) CHEVROLET CORVETTE C2

In either convertible or split rear windscreen hard-top form, the Corvette C2 is truely one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

1) FORD GT40

At my number one spot, it had to be the GT40. An icon of both road and raceway, you could strip all of the GT40's accolades and you'd still be left with a masterpiece.
Is the GT40 your winner?
