20th Century Fox has released new images from X-Men: Apocalypse.
The first shows a moment between young Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee). Perhaps more interesting is the second image, a group shot of several members of the cast, plus director Bryan Singer, wearing brand new costumes.
The costumes appear to be the new, more colorful outfits Singer previously teased in interviews, and which we speculated may have appeared in the film’s second trailer.
Since Singer suggested those new costumes would appear towards the end of the movie, we may also be looking at what the X-Men’s roster looks like once Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) has been defeated: Professor X (James McAvoy), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Nightcrawler, Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Jean Grey, Quicksilver (Evan Peters), and Storm (Ororo Munroe).
We know that a few of those actors – McAvoy, Hoult, and Lawrence, as well as Michael Fassbender as Magneto – will be up for contract renegotiation between Apocalypse and whatever comes next, so we’ll have to wait and see if this is a roster that sticks.
Check out all of the new images in the gallery below.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
