Popular mobile productivity platform CloudOn has released CloudOn 4.0, a new update that brings Microsoft Office productivity to Google Android-based smartphones. Previous versions of the platform only worked for iOS devices and Android tablets such as the Google Nexus 7.
    Using CloudOn 4.0 Google Android smartphone users can now  create, review, edit and share their Office documents from the Galaxy Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy S III and various other smartphones and Android-based gadgets.
    The CloudOn app is very popular among Office users, already averaging more than 540,000 new downloads on a monthly basis.

    CloudOn has also updated its FileSpace platform which provides a news feed type updating system for files. Using FileSpace the platform provides annotations, edits, and notes that stay in place as files are shared among users.
    To usher in the new Android version of its platform CloudOn has also introduced a newly redesigned version of the Microsoft Office ribbon. The new setup is aimed at easier access via touch-enabled devices. The new ribbon features better spacing between icons and larger buttons for “functions like selecting font size, turning on track changes or creating a table are dead simple for users across all editing options.”
    The Google Android version of CloudOn 4.0 offers both regular and landscape viewing, the ability to add notes and the capability to comment on any file.

    CloudOn 4.0 users can also share files via Dropbox, SkyDrive, Google Drive and other cloud storage systems that are accessible directly from the application.
    In a press release for the new CloudOn 4.0 solution CEO Milind Gadekar writes:
