“We wanted the car to be memorable,” says Bugatti designer Sasha Selipanov. “We wanted the car to create an imprint on your mind, so you would not forget it.”
We’d say you succeeded, Mr Selipanov. When Bugatti launched its Vision GT at the Frankfurt show a couple of weeks back, it did so to the soundtrack of a million mandibles hitting the floor simultaneously. Though a concept cooked up to race in the virtual world of Gran Turismo, it’s far from a mere digital flight of fantasy.
For starters, the Vision GT exists in real, three-dimensional reality. Not 250mph-plus reality, true, but the Frankfurt concept was far more than a paper-maiche mock-up.
“It was our outspoken goal to stay connected to the real world as much as possible,” says Bugatti design boss Achim Anscheidt.
And now Bugatti has released this rather lovely video, detailing the design process and creation of the Vision GT, a process clearly steeped in reality rather than vapourware fantasy.
